Suspicious odor leads to drug bust in Shively hotel | Crime
SHIVELY (WAVE) - Police in Shively have charged a man staying at a hotel on Dixie Highway with drug trafficking after searching his room on Tuesday.
According to a news release from Shively Police Chief Colonel Ralph Miller, officers responded to a complaint about an odor coming from one of the rooms on the third floor of the Comfort Inn at 4444 Dixie Highway on Feb. 8.
A preliminary investigation led officers to room 311, where the suspect, 25-year-old Gregory Redmond, was throwing evidence out the window.
Executing a search warrant, officers searched the room and found drugs, scales, a gun and over $12,000 in cash. The suspect was arrested and charged with the crimes listed below:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Tampering with physical evidence
- Trafficking within a 1000 yards of a school
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
The investigation continues and more charges are possible.
Redmond was being held at Louisville Metro Corrections.
